The point of departure of the installation is based on still life as a genre, in connection to Walter Benjamins essay ‘Unpacking My Library” which explores the concept of ownership. The installation consists of a series of filmic experiments, examining the idea that objects absorb the psychological investment from their owner. This creates a situation where objects, paradoxically, seem to posses part of their possessors. The concept of ownership, which implies (presumptive) control over objects, therefore also seem to contain a function in which the possessor ends up only the tally of his belongings.

I video installationen ‘A Thing Among Things’ har jeg taget udgangspunkt i stilleben-genren i forbindelse med Walter Benjamins essay ‘Unpacking My Library’, der kredser om begrebet ejerskab. Installationen består af en række filmiske eksperimenter, der undersøger en forestilling om at objekter absorberer deres ejeres psykiske investering i sig. Dette indebærer at objekterne paradoksalt nok besidder noget af deres besiddere. Altså har begrebet ejerskab, som synes at indebære (formodet) kontrol over objekter, omvendt også en funktion, hvor besidderen i sidste ende ikke er andet end summen af sine objekter.
